Principal Responsibilities:
To assist in the smooth operation of the payroll function for all Company payrolls.
1. Gather and co-ordinate all relevant information relating to payroll(s), ensuring at all times that any instruction relating to payroll changes are officially authorised by issuing manager, Personnel Manager or Payroll Controller.
2. Accurately input and reconcile all information. Transmit payment details direct to BACS via modem.
3. Issue payslips prior to the relevant pay day to all areas and file all printouts and related paperwork.
4. Ensure the Payroll Controller (or Financial Controller in the absence of the Payroll Controller) checks all payrolls before payments are transmitted to BACS.
5. Liase with Pennon Pension Department and Company Secretary’s Department to supply information on new employees, leavers and any applicable change of circumstances for current employees.
6. Respond in a friendly and helpful manner to employee enquiries with regard to salary*wage enquiries.
7. Respond in a friendly and helpful manner to enquires such as made by the Inland Revenue or other outside organisations whilst maintaining Company and employee confidentiality at all times.
8. Assist the Payroll Controller to reconcile payroll totals for the End of Year procedures.
9. Assist the Payroll Controller with the preparation of End of Year documentation such as P14*P60’s and P11D’s.
10.Ensure compliance with applicable Group, Enterprise and Company policies and procedures.
11. Carry out general administrative*office duties as designated by the Payroll Controller.
Individuals must have the following skills:
Good keyboard skills and knowledge of software*IT systems used.
A good knowledge of payroll matters including the legislation involved.
Efficiency and accuracy.
